To sponsor one child, it will cost you US $30 per month (i.e. US $360 a year) or its equivalent in other currencies.

4. Can I communicate with the child I sponsor?

Yes, you can write to the child, as often as you choose. This may be done by email or regular mail. As soon as you become a sponsor, we will give you the contact details of the child you sponsor, with practical tips for communication. If the child is too young to read and understand your language, our field staff will translate it for your sponsored child.

5. Can the sponsored child write to me?

Yes. He/she will write to you at least twice a year. Our field staff will help those who are not yet literate.

6. Can I send gifts to my sponsored child?

Yes. In fact we encourage you to do so on special occasions like, Christmas, the child’s birth day etc.

7. How long should I sponsor a child?

You may stay with the program until the child completes 12th class. However, if your circumstances change you can discontinue your sponsorship. Likewise, if a sponsored child’s circumstance changes, we may remove the child from the program after informing you, and will offer you the opportunity to sponsor another child in need of help.

8. If I discontinue my sponsorship, what will happen to the child?

If that happens, we will look for a new sponsor and continue the support uninterrupted, to the extend possible.

9. How many children can one sponsor?

This decision is best left to the sponsors themselves. There is no limit set by Janasaukhya.

10. How many sponsors will a child have?

Every child will have only one sponsor. However, the sponsor can be an individual, group, organization or company.

11. Which country does the sponsored children belong to?

Presently the sponsorship is limited to children from India. Eventually we may extend the program to other Asian countries too.

12. How do I learn about the child’s development?

Janasaukhya will keep you updated on the progress of your sponsored child annually. During your next visit to India, if you choose, you may visit the child at his/her home. We encourage your personal visits to the sponsored child’s home.

13. How does Janasaukhya ensure my support reach the child I sponsor?

We work through local churches and Christian groups. The local volunteers personally relate with each sponsored child to understand its unique situation. We conduct regular audits, both internal and external to ensue that the benefits reach the child for sure. Annual statements of accounts will be sent to you and posted on this site for public viewing. We are committed to transparency, accountability and credibility. We will not betray the trust you have deposed on us.
